Christian Schools
Australia is a very secular society. While it’s value system
has its roots in the Judeo Christian tradition, since the
1960s and 1970s there has been a severe erosion of these
values, particularly within government run schools. Indeed,
much of what is taught in state schools is contrary to what
Christians hold dear. While the home is very important in
shaping the world and life view that a child develops, we must
never underestimate the influence of the teacher in the
classroom. There are committed Christian teachers in the
state school system, but they are few and far between, and
what they are allowed to say in the classroom severely limits
their Christian witness.
Christian
Parent Controlled Schools
Thee (largely) Baptist Churches which saw a need
for Christian schooling, established what are known as Christian
Community Schools. These are usually attached to, or run by a
board associated with a local church.
In 2002 the Christian Community Schools amalgamated with the
Christian School Association of Queensland and have formed
Christian
Schools Australia.
We
encourage parents to give serious consideration to sending their
children to a Christian School. These websites show you where
their schools are located, and links to the individual schools.
The Australian Association of Christian Schools website also
provides a list of Christian Schools throughout the country.
